Jeremy Dion performed this past Tuesday, at ToST Lounge over in Fremont…
When we were younger, ie kids, Jeremy and his family used to live just down the street from me. I remember he and his friend teasing us mercilessly as young kids, and then remember picking him up in our carpool on the way to school in the High School days…
Especially in latter years, I remember noticing that Jeremy seemed pretty musically inclined as he participated in music & theatre programs…
Over the years, I lost track of him, but thanks to the glory of Facebook, rediscovering what so many old friends are doing…I found out Jeremy has become quite the musician! Very talented!
Several old friends queried when he would be back home (as he now resides in the mountains of Colorado) to perform for us, and we were privileged to finally see him live this week, ToST Lounge in Fremont. Jeremy played a 90 minute set of most of his music from his independently released CD: “Finally”, new tunes he promised would be on his next record, and a few covers that were fun, and at times, amusing…ie an awesome folk rock version of the late Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean”, more in the style of Chris Cornell’s cover, than of MJ’s stylings…given a folk spin, but Jeremy did not leave out the “hey hey’s”, which had me laughing out loud and applauding!
Overall, it was a great night. Live, Jeremy’s music, and vocal stylings really come alive! So much so, I would even say, he should do a live recording…it was that good! The overall passion and energy of the music as Jeremy performed it just jumped out at you, if that makes sense. Kudos Jeremy, and here’s to more great music to come…
