Featured Buzz & Photos: Mister Heavenly featuring Michael Cera at bass

Yes, you read the headline correctly folks – that is, Michael Cera, apparently “guesting” at bass for the newly formed indie all-star band – “Mister Heavenly”. Local Seattle street press at the Stranger – Line Out – was first out, though, I tweeted it as it happened… the girls all lining the front of the eagerly awaited Passion Pit show, well, went all a twitter(no pun) the minute Cera took the stage to help tune up instruments, for the premiere outing of Mister Heavenly. The ink was barely dry from just signing with SubPop, noone had heard anything about Cera playing with them.

So perhaps not offically membered up, Cera brought the real movie star buzz to the stage. The band played – ok, pretty good actually for a first outing. Cera was – understated at bass – only occasionally sneaking a peak at his enthralled (and squeeing) audience. Official band members – Nick Diamonds of Islands and Unicorns; Joe Plummer of Modest Mouse, and Honus Honus from Man Man. And one other member named “Rudy” is indicated on their facebook page – perhaps that is who Cera is filling in for – or that’s his alias? Cera is reported to be appearing throughout the west coast run of dates with the band.

The Dum Dum Girls opened the ultimate no-show at Marymoor this summer – when Vampire Weekend dropped in, and then dropped out of their headlining show in August due to illness. Even though the patient crowd was not rewarded with their ultimate VW desires, they were treated to a great couple hours of music by both the Dum Dum Girls and the lead in opener, Beach House.

The Dum Dum Girls showed us – that they have style, and attitude – and they give good music! Enjoy…
